  1. Mar 20,  · Musical things went darker and darker, more obscure, alternative, punk-rock and eventually even horror (regarding their “Decampment” 7-inch series and also this album. On the back of the sleeve it says: All Un-Easy Listening Music & Lyrics by ADULT. That’s exactly what it is. A very tough album to listen to/5(39).

  4. Apr 21,  · Adult.'s early albums were enjoyable, but it seemed clear (to me anyway) that they were still developing and maturing. By "Why Bother?", Adult. seems to have found their sound. It's ultimately greater than a simple more-of-the-same release/5(45).

  5. Why Bother?'s deconstructed approach also bleeds into the songs that sound more like Adult.'s earlier work. "Good Deeds" and "Herd Me" -- which both offer witty commentary on groupthink -- bristle with rapid-fire beats and Kuperus' snotty, then scary vocals, remaining danceable while flirting with the chaos elsewhere on the album.8/
